Our client had just purchased a new ASR-9006-DC-V2 as part of their network expansion strategy. It was a large-scale project, with a short timeline, and multiple Engineers on-site for the implementation. Upon delivery, they immediately began their installation, but unfortunately in the rush, a line-card was slotted into the chassis incorrectly. This caused small but serious damage to the backplane connector, breaking the pins off, and locking up the card in the process. The ASR, a key piece of their network, was suddenly out of commission, and could not be used, delaying the entire project.
Thankfully, they called upon us to help get their equipment back into production, and we quickly brought the item into our Service Center for repair. And in a short time, we completely solved the problem, including:
-de-slotting the locked up card, without damaging the card itself;
-replacing the entire backplane-connectors, including the pins;
-confirming no peripheral damage to other parts of the slot and backplane;
-complete testing & diagnostics of the entire chassis, verifying the slot & line-card are fully functional.
The chassis & line-cards were assembled, tested, confirmed & logged, and returned to the customer, and the project was completed.
